Yanquiza
The Desert Hamlet

A Mysterious Place
Yanquiza... The desert hamlet. Impenetrable your origins, attractive your nature. Blessed is your Spirit. Nestled between the Peruvian Andes and the Pacific Humboldt; you lay in earnest. Your artisans at work, humbled, steeped in tradition, rooted through the ground, blessed they live within you and spirited they come out of you.
THE HERITAGE
In the early years of the vineyard, Jesus’s mother, Maria "Tila" Alvarez Cabrera, affectionately known as “La Monja”, was a symbol of resilience and faith. Born in 1923 as the eldest of ten children, she worked tirelessly on the family vineyard becoming an unsuspecting pioneer of her generation. Her valor and persistence would shape the future of Bodega Yanquiza. After spending several adolescent years to study in the seclusion of a Convento in Lima Peru, by the 1950's Maria would be called back to Yanquiza to care for her ailing mother. There she would carve her own path through the emerald leaves and ruby drops of the vineyard. Pioneering her own business producing and selling Wine and Pisco; her strength and spirit remains embedded in the legacy of Bodega Yanquiza, a constant reminder of the family’s deep roots and ancestral values.
